Jessica Mulroney Steps Down From Her Charity Following Sasha Exeter Scandal

A report from Page Six today revealed that Jessica Mulroney had to bow out of her charity in which she worked alongside her sisters-in-law. The outlet says that Jessica left her executive position after the “white privilege” scandal that reportedly cost her friendship with the former royal, Meghan Markle.

According to Page Six, Jessica left her position in The Shoebox Project following comments from the influencer, Sasha Exeter. The Shoebox Project is an organization, founded by Jessica and her family members, that distributes $50 boxes to homeless individuals and women in precarious and dangerous situations.

Back in 2011, Jessica founded the group with Katy Mulroney, Vanessa, and Caroline. In a statement from the non-profit, it said that Jessica Mulroney, a founding member of the group, had dedicated herself to The Shoebox Project’s success over the last few years.

However, on account of the recent accusations, Jessica had to step down and the non-profit said they supported her choice. As it was previously reported, Sasha Exeter shared a number of messages from Jessica in which she supposedly threatened to file a lawsuit against her.

The controversial messages led to her firing from Good Morning America as well as the cancelation of her new reality series, I Do Redo. Regarding her relationship with Meghan, Page Six said this past Wednesday that her friendship with Markle had been precarious for months.

The outlet says that Meghan was concerned that Jessica was using her royal connections for her own career. Insiders who spoke with Page Six claimed that the incident in question gave Markle a reason to bow out of the friendship.

Elaine Lui, who co-hosts CTV’s eTalk, wrote a blog post for Lainey Gossip in which she said that everyone working in the Canadian media had stories of transgressions involving the Mulroney family.

However, Lui says that the family has “powerful allies,” including Jessica, who used purportedly Meghan and Prince Harry’s connections for her own gain. Moreover, it’s been reported that Jessica doesn’t believe she’s in the wrong and that there are “two sides to every story.”
